Negril Is Calling: Film, Tourism and Cannabis Take the Spotlight This October
There is always a good reason to head to Negril. This October, bring a little extra space in your calendar.
From a film festival at Skylark to World Travel Week and the Caribbean Cannabis & Tourism Summit + EXPO, western Jamaica is setting the scene for a month of storytelling, industry connections and fresh conversations about the Caribbean’s future.
The beach will still be there. So will the sunsets. This time, there are a few more reasons to stay.
October 8–11: Film at Skylark
The NUFF festival takes place October 8–11 at Skylark Hotel, adding cinema to Negril’s October mix.
An intimate film festival feels right at home here. Negril is a place where a conversation can carry on long after an event ends, over dinner or with your feet in the sand. For film lovers, it is an opportunity to build a visit around storytelling and leave room to enjoy the town around it.
Film belongs in the Caribbean tourism conversation, too. Our stories, personalities and perspectives are part of what makes this region worth exploring. A festival gives those stories a gathering place.
Check the festival website for its lineup and attendance details.
October 10–15: The Travel Industry Comes West
The spotlight widens with World Travel Week, scheduled for October 10–15 at Princess Resorts in the Negril area, as reported by Caribbean E-Magazine.
The announced programme includes international events covering hospitality, culinary tourism, travel technology, cruise tourism and other sectors. The World Travel Awards Caribbean & The Americas Gala Ceremony is scheduled for October 11 at Princess Grand Jamaica, along the coast between Montego Bay and Negril.
That brings another audience to western Jamaica: people whose work involves choosing, promoting and developing travel experiences.
Our invitation to them is simple: make time for Negril. Eat locally. Meet the people behind the businesses. Discover the smaller properties, restaurants and experiences that give a visit its personality.
October 30–November 1: Caribbean Cannabis & Tourism Summit + EXPO
At the end of the month, we are bringing our own community into the conversation.
The Caribbean Cannabis & Tourism Summit + EXPO takes place October 30–November 1, 2026, in Negril, connecting cannabis, tourism, wellness, agriculture, investment and culture.
For us at Ganjactivist.com, these connections are central to the work. Growers need customers and suppliers. Tourism businesses need distinctive experiences and reliable partners. Entrepreneurs need access to capital, knowledge and people who understand the region.
The Summit is being built to help those people find each other.
Alongside presentations and industry discussions, the Deal Room is intended to connect entrepreneurs with prospective investors and strategic partners.
Give Yourself Time for Negril
What makes this October calendar exciting is the variety. Come for cinema. Come for tourism connections. Come to explore the Caribbean cannabis economy. Give yourself time to discover something beyond the event that brought you.
Book an extra night if you can. Try a restaurant you have never visited. Buy from a local craftsperson. Take a tour with someone who knows the area. Let a business trip become a proper visit.
For Negril’s businesses, these gatherings offer opportunities to welcome new audiences and build relationships that can last beyond October. Every organiser, hotelier, chef, driver, vendor and creative has a part in making that experience memorable.
We are glad to be part of the month—and we want to see the whole destination win.Big up Negril. See you in October
At Coral Cove Wellness Resort, the EXPO and craft market run Saturday, October 31, and Sunday, November 1, with a Saturday-night party and Sunday Rastafari programming also planned.
The EXPO opens the invitation to a broad business community: cultivation and agricultural suppliers, solar and infrastructure companies, hospitality and business services, wellness brands, accessories, food and beverage businesses, and craftspeople.
There is room for serious business and time to enjoy being together. We are in Negril, after all.
