For immediate release:
[Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, July 26th, 2023]. Sovereign City Entertainment Ltd. a media and events company has launched the Ganjactivist.com Quarterly Magazine. The first-ever industry publication dedicated to the development of the Caribbean cannabis industry. “The Caribbean’s role in the culture and proliferation of the cannabis plant is undeniable. Now that the world is opening up to the realities always known by people of the Caribbean, in particular the Rastafari community, we want to ensure this identity is maintained and capitalized on to the benefit of Caribbean people”. Publisher and Editor-In-Chief, M. Omari Jackson. “I personally could not stand the international reporting on the Jamaican or regional cannabis industry. It paints a very myopic view-point, yet there is so much happening and even more potential in things to come”.
The magazine started as a website and developed into a media ecosystem. They took advantage of the lockdown periods to keep the region part of the global cannabis conversion by hosting a series of virtual conferences and webinars. The team is also known for their Cannabis & Coffee Conversations podcast, where the host takes a more intimate approach to delving into the intricacies of this vast industry, with key industry players.
“Now that the world is opening up again, we’re focusing on the magazine, brand activations and events”. Says Jackson. The company has formed relationships with top industry events, such as CanEx, Jamaica. The regions’ largest industry event, will be introducing the first-ever Caribbean Wellness Expo this year. A reflection of the diversification and maturing of the industry. They will also host an official side-event during this year’s MJBIzCon in Las Vegas. The world’s largest cannabis conference and trade show, attracting in excess of 30,000 attendees. “We are looking forward to the rest of the year. It has been long, but we have formed some great relationships with the industry. We are looking to showcase the best the region has to offer and offer access to the Caribbean for international brands. Growth in this industry depends more on your contacts and your connection to the industry. We’re giving our audience the information they need and fostering the connectedness necessary to blossom” iterates Jackson.
